My News Story

***Writing tip: Take key words from 3 different news stories and piece them together to make one poem. Here I used a railroad story (pose, photos, railroad tracks, eerie, echoes, severed), a prison story (guard posts, suicide, hope, earthquake, I, die), and a stress story (step, has become, fog, plod, churns, acute, pain, heart).***

My Story:

This bounce in my step has become a plod

I pose for photos and pretend to look the part

Eerie isolation clouds hope with acute pain

My heart echoes off cold railroad tracks

Hope is severed, torn in the earthquake’s ruins

Guard posts fog Mount Everest

Suicide leads my weak hand

In sluggish bow-tie churns I exist

….I die.
